This was the best travel of my life so fare! I was treated like God in France! The familiar atmosphere let me quickly felt like being at home. The rooms and the whole villa are well cared with the most comfort. The hospitality and the kindness are incomparable to any other places I have been.
The richness, quality and the taste of the food in the Villa Gaetano is superb, I ate 28 days in the villa without getting bored or used to any of their specialities (you wont find food comparable to this in Sri Lanka).
What made the holiday the best was taking the opportunity to make a 12 days journey with a Tuk Tuk through the whole Island. Umesh, the guy who organizes travels and trips, is the man if you want to have a deep contact to the culture, the sights and the landscape of Sri Lanka. Without him I would not have seen and experienced all the beautiful locations and things I saw.
So, I want to thank all the team of the Villa, especially to Gamini, Kanthi, Umesh, Sunil and Ernande! You are the best, keep going!!! |

Michael and I have been totally blown away with the quality of service, food, friendship, respect and care during our month long stay at Surfer's Dream and Villa Gaetano. Foremost is the care and attention given to us by Gamini, the owner. He truly cares that each visitor gets exactly what they want, when and where. The breakfasts and lunches are beautifully presented, fresh and delicious, as well as generously proportioned. The dining tables are enhanced with fresh flowers which made us feel truly cared for. The dinners are fresh and finely flavoured and served with a variety of side dishes, my favourite being the spinach and garlic special.
When I told Gamini that the sauce and oil was too strong for my delicate stomach, by the next day he had purchased a large steamer and created delicious oilfree creations. The whole fresh locally caught fish steamed in a banana leaf wrapping was delicate and perfectly cooked.
Michael, a hot toast lover, was very appreciative of the warm cloth which kept the toast warm and also the exquisite jams of orange, ginger and grapefruit. I loved the deserts; mangos and bananas in meringue or pancake, with some cold ice cream. Yum. On the other hand, I also appreciated the warmth and stimulation of an Ayurvedic massage and the easy access to Ayurvedic medicines and treatments available at the hotel site.
Due to Gamini’s friendliness, the visitors tend to mix together and we made many new friendships and exchanged email addresses with people from all over the world. The staff is also so helpful and friendly and it is very easy to feel both “at home” and well cared for. The accommodations are very well maintained and cleaned. Add to this good surfing, swimming, sunbathing and shopping, it’s the best holiday I’ve ever had.
Although we ate at Villa Gaetano, we slept at Surfer’s Paradise and were very comfortable in this half price accommodation. The room was a bit smaller than the ones at Villa Gaetano and the shower provides only cold water. However, given the warmth of the climate, we were very comfortable there, and got daily exercise by walking the 1 kilometer back and forth to Villa Gaetano to eat, relax, swim and socialize.
Villa Gaetano is locally owned, run and staffed, so the very reasonable money we spent here is benefitting the village and even the local fishermen. Everywhere on the coast we can see the devastation created in the 2004 (right year?) tsunami, and yet, the local people are so friendly and caring and the money we spend here in some way helps the resurrection of the area.

Ahangama - Villa Gaetano is very good for friendly service, great food and cleanliness. The hotel has push-bikes for use by guests which are a great way to explore. It also has a very good position and great sea views. Gamini (to owner) provided us with a special extra service by collecting our surf board from Ngombo at no extra charge. There is a left hand point break in front of Rams Guesthouse close by. |
